Los Angeles - Day Six (Disney California Adventure)

Day five saw us depart our Hollywood base to go South of Los Angeles to Anaheim which is home to the two Disney parks. Day five was spent picking up the rental car for this leg of the trip and chilling out at the swimming pool - neither of these were good photo opportunities, hence no day five post.

Anyway, on with day six and we visited the first of the two Disney parks here in California, aptly named Disney California Adventure...

The rides at the Disney parks are not necessarily record breakers or traditional roller coaster rides but what differentiates them is the effort put in in terms of scenery, film link-ups and the Disney "experience".

We went on five rides at Disney...

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

An elevator drop ride themed on the classic TV show "The Twilight Zone"...

The ride is themed as a hotel from the 1930s

Redwood Creek

Redwood Creek was a wilderness themed area which contained several rope walkways to be explored

Toy Story 4D

Toy Story 4D is a shooter ride themed around the Toy Story films - good fun

Posters are scattered throughout the queue area featuring the characters from the films

California Screamin'

This is a roller coaster. It is mainly aimed at children but it is good fun for adults, featuring loops and good acceleration, especially at the back. This ride was very quiet, as a result we rode it 4 times - the most of any ride at any of the parks we've visited to date...

The start of the ride launch area where the train is accelerated to 55mph in 4 seconds

Cars Land

The most impressive area & ride was one based on the 2006 Pixar film Cars. The level of detail and attention paid to match with the film is stunning - as you would expect given it cost in excess of $200m & was only opened in June 2012...

General Area

One of the most impressive things about the park is the level of detail that goes into the general scenery...

Water feature

A cleverly designed USA town street area which features a picture that moves with the viewer

A waterfall feature
